Tom Treynor is and advisor to Riffyn. He was previously the Director of Test Operations at Zymergen, where he led the growth and continuous improvement of its strain performance measurement resources. Working with their Software team he also designed the interfaces to upload, warehouse and analyze tens of thousands of measurements each week. Early in his career Tom contributed to the Chemical and Biological Sensing team at General Electric's Global Research Center. Then at Amyris his initial role as Protein Engineer evolved into one where he was driving improvements to strain promotion decisions in R&D and the predictability with which processes were scaled from the lab to the plant. He also led the team that built the quality management system deployed at their 1.2 million liter manufacturing facility in Brazil and developed a training curriculum that introduced multivariate statistical methods to nearly one hundred global colleagues. Tom holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Yale, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford. Whether he's using quantum mechanics to interpret molecular spectra or chasing down an outlying trend on a control chart, Tom is passionate about helping others to make increasingly accurate predictions of future distributions.
