The Role

As Director of Commercial Development at Riffyn, you are a deeply experienced in R&D IT products and services and their sale to global enterprises. You will lead Riffyn’s North America sales organization and will be responsible for growing the sales pipeline, closing six and seven figure transactions, optimizing the sales process, recruiting and managing a North America sales team, mentoring and training sales staff, defining compensation plans, lead generation, network development, market surveillance, intelligence gathering. Most critically you will be responsible for defining and delivering on annual sales targets through the development and operation of Riffyn’s revenue pipeline. You will report to Riffyn’s CCO (Chief Commercial Officer).

Responsibilities

Messaging

  • Over time become an expert in how to sell Riffyn products and services and the value they deliver to scientific R&D

  • Stay current on the scientific software marketplace and emerging trends

  • Articulate Riffyn’s value proposition and impact to prospective customers and broader audiences

  • Provide and complete business development opportunities while working with North America and North America based team members

  • Instill a positive and creative culture that drives employees to contribute and prosper

Market Surveillance & Strategic Focus

  • Maintain a deep understanding of trends and digital initiatives in key verticals

  • Cultivate executive network in key verticals

  • Help define / prioritize market focus

  • Help define commercial goals

Communications

  • Work with CCO and team as well as North America team

  • Communicate North America objectives internally and inspire the team

  • Coordinate with Scientific Solutions lead to deliver holistic offerings and implementations to our customers

  • Work with Riffyn Marketing to use sales collateral and messaging

Revenue Pipeline

  • Work with CCO and develop/adopt solution sales process, team accountabilities, pipeline tracking

  • Work with CCO on lead generation and intelligence gathering activities

  • Enable and utilize the team

  • Develop and close pipeline

Travel

  • Expect approximately 50% of time traveling

Background/Qualifications

Experienced in SaaS or enterprise software sales

  • Previously accountable for enterprise scientific software solution deployment or sales (products or services)

  • Experienced in developing, operating, tracking and driving a revenue pipeline

  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering on annual revenue plans

Deep knowledge of scientific R&D and R&D IT organizations including:

  • Understand how to navigate and solution sell in these environments

  • Ability to distill complex concepts into compelling messages for diverse audiences
